Important information for entering Japan for ICRP2022

 

Starting from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, 2022 , prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) completed by the receiving organizations located in Japan will be no longer required for new entry of foreign nationals into Japan.

 

Information about entering into Japan related to COVID-19 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan)

 

 

The following items will be needed to enter Japan.

 

1.           Visa

All foreign visitors are required to obtain visas regardless of nationality.

Visa’s must be issued in advance of travel and can be obtained from local Japanese consular services offices in your home country or region. Individual tourist visas will not be granted at the border as was the case in past years.

ERFS certificate will be necessary to apply for your visa. Please provide your data for the ERFS application on the following form. We will email you the ERFS certificate in PDF.

2.           Certificate of inspection for COVID-19 within 72 hours before leaving the country

Please note that vaccination requirements include in most cases a booster dose (third dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine).  Also, please note that pre-travel testing is required according to the instructions noted on the following website.

Quarantine period after entering Japan

 

Your quarantine depends on the classification of the country or region of your stay before arriving in Japan, and your vaccination status. Vaccination certificate can be approved only valid vaccines by the Japanese government. Those who are required isolation need to submit written pledge for health follow-up. Please see more detailed information on the following website.
